Buuilding Project 1

Preparations have reached fever pitch as the Volta Region gears up to host the 35th edition of the National Farmers Day slated for December 6, 2019.

The venue for the event, Ho Jubilee Park, is receiving a major facelift, and some hotels are already fully booked.

The Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) is to organise a cocktail party in Ho for some industry players and stakeholders on Sunday December 1, 2019, to set the tone for the celebration.

Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Region Minister, will hold a welcome night party for awardees and some other dignitaries on Monday, December 2, 2019 at his residence in honour of the awardees.

There are also plans to take awardees to some agro-business industries in the region ahead of the main celebration, to experience agrobusiness activities in the region.

The event will also include a week-long agricultural exhibition and trade fair slated for December 2, 2019 to December 6, 2019 – expected to be opened by the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.

The Agricultural fair is aimed at providing the region an opportunity to showcase its agriculture resources and potentials.

The grand durbar and award ceremony will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 and be graced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as special guest of honour.

The Ghana News Agency has gathered that some stakeholders and dignitaries, including some awardees, have started arriving in the regional capital ahead of the programme.

Mr. Felix Chaahaah, Chief Director at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, said this year’s celebration promises to be unique and the best of all.

The 2019 Farmers’ Day is on the theme ‘Enhancing small-scale agriculture toward agribusiness development’, and will honour ‘Best Farmers and Fishermen’ across the country.

The event will offer opportunities for networking and interactions with over 150 exhibitors, farmers, businesses and actors in the agriculture value chain.

There will also be regional day performances and exhibitions. (Source: GNA)
