Airlines Set to Slash Check-In Delays with SITA’s Next-Gen Connectivity Service | Airlines worldwide are gearing up to deliver faster, smoother passenger experiences with the launch of SITA Connect Fly, a next-generation managed connectivity service designed to cut check-in delays, boost data security, and streamline airline operations.

Developed by SITA in partnership with Versa Networks, a global leader in Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technology, SITA Connect Fly replaces outdated, costly networks with a secure, software-defined system built for speed and resilience.

The new service connects airline departure control systems (DCS) and passenger-facing tools, such as check-in kiosks and boarding systems, directly to the cloud via Versa’s AI-powered platform. This reduces the time needed to open new airline stations from months to weeks, while also guaranteeing faster response times and stronger protection against cyber threats.

The benefits for travellers will be immediate: shorter queues, more reliable boarding, and greater confidence in the safety of their personal data.

“Airlines across the world are telling us the same thing: they need faster, more resilient systems to keep up with growing passenger volumes and increased cloud services,” said Martin Smillie, Senior Vice President for Communications and Data Exchange at SITA. “SITA Connect Fly provides a managed secure connectivity service for pre-flight operations worldwide, helping reduce the risk of outages and keeping policies consistent across airports. In practice, this means smoother check-in, more reliable boarding, and a less stressful journey for passengers.”

Versa’s CEO, Kelly Ahuja, added: “As SITA’s technology partner, we are extremely gratified to deliver this modernized network and security infrastructure. Our innovations are enabling airlines to transform their operations with speed and agility.”

Built on VersaONE Universal SASE, SITA Connect Fly combines networking and security in one platform, ensuring airlines always have enough bandwidth for mission-critical systems such as departure control. The service also works across all transport layers (ISP, MPLS, 4G/5G), allowing seamless connectivity from any airport, including remote regional sites.

SITA Connect Fly builds on SITA’s existing Community Connect DCS service, already used in more than 400 locations worldwide. While more advanced, the new system remains cost-effective, offering greater value without raising prices.

By integrating with SITA’s common-use systems for check-in and self-service (CUTE and CUSS) and SITA Flex, Connect Fly also sets the stage for real-time data processing across SITA’s global digital ecosystem, helping airlines and airports deliver faster, more reliable, and connected passenger services everywhere.
