IATA to Convene Aviation Leaders in Macao for Joint WFS/WPS Symposium |
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will bring together senior aviation, finance, commercial and passenger-experience leaders in Macao (SAR), China, on 28–29 October 2026 for the joint World Financial Symposium (WFS) and World Passenger Symposium (WPS).
Held under the theme “From Vision to Value: The Next Era of Air Travel,” the event will examine how emerging technologies and new business models can translate into measurable value for airlines and passengers.
Sandrine Le Borgne, IATA’s Interim Director General, Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, and CFO, said artificial intelligence, modern airline retailing, digital identity and new payment solutions have significant potential to reshape airline operations and the passenger journey.
The symposium will open with remarks from Le Borgne and Stanley Pun, President of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Macao SAR. The programme will also feature the IATA Industry Economic Outlook and findings from the 2026 IATA Global Passenger Survey.
Three specialized tracks will focus on key areas shaping the industry’s next phase.
The Retail and Distribution track will examine Offers and Orders, lessons from airlines implementing the model, and the potential role of AI in creating more relevant offers and customer experiences.
The Financial Services and Processing track will address volatility, financial risk management, hedging, payment costs and the transition from ticket-based processes to orders.
The Passenger Experience and Accessibility track will explore wider adoption of digital identity and biometrics, alongside improvements to border and baggage processes and accessibility.
China will feature prominently, with senior Chinese airline leaders discussing digital innovation, modern airline retailing, Offers and Orders, and One ID as elements supporting the market’s established growth trajectory.
Speakers include leaders from Hainan Airlines, Lufthansa Group, Air India, Kenya Airways, Air France/KLM and Frontex, alongside Stanley Pun.
