ASKY Sets Date For Kano Flights | Pan-African carrier ASKY Airlines has formally set September 2, 2026 as the start date for flights to Kano, Nigeria, making the northern Nigerian city the airline’s third destination in the country.
The Lomé-based carrier has also opened ticket sales for the new service, signalling that the expansion has moved from planning to commercial rollout.
The Kano operation will be integrated into ASKY’s regional network through its Lomé hub, giving passengers from the northern Nigerian commercial centre onward access to destinations across West and Central Africa.
Kano joins Lagos and Abuja as ASKY’s Nigerian destinations, strengthening the airline’s footprint in one of its most important regional markets. The addition of Kano is part of ASKY’s broader network expansion following the delivery of a new Boeing 737 MAX 8, taking the airline’s fleet to 16 aircraft.
The aircraft, registered ET-BCJ, is configured with 16 Business Class and 144 Economy Class seats, providing additional capacity to support new routes and higher frequencies across ASKY’s network.
Kano is a major commercial centre in northern Nigeria, with a strong base of traders and business travellers. Its inclusion in ASKY’s network is therefore expected to strengthen links between northern Nigeria and other African commercial centres.
Lomé Hub To Drive Connectivity
The new route also reinforces ASKY’s strategy of using Lomé as a regional connecting hub. The airline currently links more than 30 destinations through Lomé, providing passengers with onward connections across West, Central and other parts of Africa.
For travellers, the Kano service could offer greater schedule flexibility and an alternative to longer journeys through non-African or distant regional hubs.
ASKY has positioned its network expansion around improving intra-African connectivity, supporting trade, tourism and business travel. The airline has also previously highlighted the importance of reliable and affordable regional air services to Africa’s economic integration.
