Brussels Airlines goes Nordic, adds Evenes, Kemi, and Kittilä to its network | Brussels Airlines has launched scheduled passenger flights to Evenes (Norway), Kemi and Kittilä (both Finland).
These destinations are added to the winter timetable, as holidays to the Arctic in winter are becoming increasingly popular. In addition to scheduled passenger flights, Brussels Airlines also operates charter flights to the Arctic region in cooperation with travel agencies.
Kittilä will be offered three times weekly between December 10 and March 27. Kemi is offered up to twice weekly in the schedule between December 25 and March 10; Evenes is operated once weekly in February and March.
“The Arctic region in winter is no less than magical. Brussels Airlines has been offering these winter wonderland destinations in cooperation with travel agencies, but as demand grows, flights to the region will from now on also be offered as scheduled passenger flights, allowing travellers even more choice to discover outdoor adventures and distinctive local culture.”
said Greet Vandebos, Head of Leisure Sales, Brussels Airlines.
Tackling seasonality
Demand in the aviation industry is highly seasonal, with the summer months as peak season. Brussels Airlines has been working on tackling this seasonality with a variety of measures, such as student cabin crew members to increase productivity during the peak season, but also by adding attractive winter destinations.
Since winter 2024, Brussels Airlines has offered four destinations in the Canary Islands during winter, with the addition of Fuerteventura. Also, Funchal in Madeira was added to the schedule as a destination with year-round mild temperatures.
As of this year, the Nordics are the newest addition to the winter timetable in order to offer an attractive leisure network year-round.
