Uganda Airlines to Strengthen Accra–East Africa Connectivity | By Dominick Andoh
Uganda Airlines is set to begin four-times-weekly services between Uganda and Ghana from October 27, 2026, adding another East African carrier to Accra’s international aviation network and deepening air links between the two regions.
The airline’s entry will take the number of East Africa-based carriers serving Accra International Airport to four, joining Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines and Air Tanzania. Uganda Airlines’ General Sales Agent in Ghana will be Euroworld Air Services Limited.
The new service comes as African airlines continue to expand intra-continental connectivity, creating alternatives to long and often indirect journeys through European or Middle Eastern hubs.
Air Tanzania launched three-times-weekly services between Dar es Salaam and Accra in December 2025, providing another direct link between West and East Africa and opening easier access to Tanzania’s tourism and business markets.
Kenya Airways has also signalled plans to increase its Ghana frequencies as it seeks to deepen connectivity and customer engagement in the market.
Alongside those carriers, ASKY Airlines continues to provide an important bridge between the regions through its Lomé hub.
The expanding network has implications beyond passenger travel. More direct and connecting options can make business trips, tourism and movement between African markets less dependent on non-African hubs, potentially reducing travel time and improving the efficiency of regional commercial links.
That connectivity also aligns with the broader economic ambitions of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Aviation industry stakeholders have repeatedly identified reliable air links as an important enabler of trade, investment, tourism and the movement of people across African markets.
The growing presence of East African airlines at Accra therefore gives Ghana a stronger aviation bridge into the eastern side of the continent, while providing East African carriers with access to one of West Africa’s key commercial gateways.
