Flashback: AWA and partners to give hope to US$25million Ho Airport | The euphoria that surrounded the official inauguration of the US$25 million Ho Airport back in 2018, created the belief that the facility was going to open up the Volta Region and transform the socio-economic fabric of the Volta Region.
Initial attempts by Passion Air and Africa World Airlines (AWA) to serve the Ho Airport were suspended mainly due to a lack of passengers. The facility has largely remained idle, with huge overhead costs to the facility manager, Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL).
AviationGhana sources have revealed that Africa World Airlines and its foreign partners have now completed negotiations with the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) for the establishment of a full-fledged training school for pilots and other aviation professionals at the Ho Airport and leverage the on-ground facilities the airport.
AWA and its partners are now set to break grounds for the construction of a training school adjacent the Ho Airport Terminal building for the purpose.
The US$25million Ho Airport, funded by the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), has a 1,900 metres runway, a traffic control tower, 1,150 capacity passenger waiting area, and an automatic fire detection system among others. Flashback: AWA and partners to give hope to US$25million Ho Airport
