Emirates Cements Position As World’s Most Profitable Airline | Emirates has cemented its position as the world’s most profitable airline after posting record financial results for the 2025-26 financial year, underscoring the continued strength of the Gulf carrier model amid volatile global aviation conditions.

The airline reported a record profit before tax of AED 22.8 billion (US$ 6.2 billion), up 7% year-on-year, while revenues rose 2% to AED 130.9 billion (US$ 35.7 billion). Emirates also recorded its highest-ever cash assets of AED 54.9 billion (US$ 15.0 billion), reflecting strong liquidity and operational resilience.

Net profit after tax reached AED 19.7 billion (US$ 5.4 billion), delivering an industry-leading net profit margin of 15%, which the airline described as the best financial performance in its history and across the global airline industry for the reporting period.

The strong performance came despite geopolitical disruptions in the Gulf region during the final month of the financial year, which affected air traffic flows and regional airline operations. Emirates Chairman and Chief Executive Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said the results demonstrated the resilience of the Emirates business model rooted in “safety, excellence, innovation, people and partnerships.”

Analysts say Emirates’ profitability was driven by sustained long-haul travel demand, premium passenger traffic, strong cargo operations and efficient capacity deployment across high-growth international markets. Passenger yields rose 4% during the year even as seat capacity declined marginally by 1%.

The airline carried 53.2 million passengers and expanded its global network to 152 cities in 80 countries, while strengthening partnerships with 32 codeshare and 117 interline partners.

Emirates also continued aggressive investments in fleet renewal and customer experience, including a US$5 billion cabin retrofit programme and major aircraft orders worth US$41.4 billion announced at the 2025 Dubai Airshow.

Industry observers note that Emirates’ results further reinforce the growing dominance of Gulf carriers in global long-haul aviation as airlines increasingly pivot toward Asia, Africa and emerging international travel markets.
