Air France Exits Ghana’s Market

Air France exits Ghana’s aviation market
Air France exited Ghana’s aviation market in October due to varied reasons.

By Dominick Andoh |  Air France Exits Ghana’s Market | Air France has suspended its direct three-times-a-week scheduled passenger service between Paris, France and Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Though immediate reasons were not given, analysts believe the low passenger numbers occasioned by their exit from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, three Sahelien countries currently under Military rule, informed the decision.

Before the military takeover of power in Burkina Faso, which has created tense diplomatic relations between the West African country and France, the airline, a member of the Air France-KLM group, operated three flights per week between Paris and Accra with a stopover in Burkina Faso.

Analysts contacted by AviationGhana say suspending the stopover in Burkina Faso is a significant factor and, ultimately, the decision to suspend passenger service to Accra effective October 26, 2024.

AviationGhana can confirm that the airline operated its last flights to Accra’s Kotoka International Airport on October 25, 2024.
