British Airways cancels Heathrow-Accra-Heathrow flight

British Airways cancels Heathrow-Accra-Heathrow flight | British Airways has canceled the Heathrow-Accra-Heathrow flight scheduled for today, Friday, March 21, 2025. If you were set to travel from Accra to London (Heathrow), you may need to alter your plans.

The cancellation is due to the closure of Heathrow Airport following a fire at a nearby electrical substation. Flight BA81, which was supposed to depart Heathrow at 13:25 and arrive in Accra at 19:55 local time, is now affected by the airport’s shutdown.

Heathrow, the world’s second-busiest airport, has warned of “significant disruption” in the coming days and advises passengers not to travel “under any circumstances” until it reopens. According to Flightradar24, at least 1,351 flights to and from the airport could be cancelled today.

The fire in Hayes has left over 4,900 homes without power and resulted in the evacuation of 150 people from nearby properties. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
