By Dominick Andoh | Ethiopian Airlines to operate first London-Kumasi direct flight | The first direct flight from London (Gatwick) to the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi in Ghana, is expected to land at the recently – inaugurated Prempeh I International Airport on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Ethiopian Airlines would operate the flight using a Boeing 737-800 that can accommodate 154 passengers, with 16 Business and 138 Economy seats.
The inbound flight will depart London (Gatwick) at 2:10 a.m. and arrive at Prempeh I International Airport, Kumasi, at 9:05 a.m. The return flight will leave Prempeh I International Airport at 11 a.m. and arrive at London (Gatwick) Airport at 6 p.m.
Ing. Charles Kraikue, the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, the aviation sector regulator, confirmed to AviationGhana.Com that the Prempeh I International Airport, Kumasi, has been cleared for the operation.
The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) issued a statement on Thursday, November 28, 2024, stating that this historic charter flight is “the result of a collaboration between the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and Ethiopian Airlines.”
