By Dominick Andoh | Ghana CAA Keeps tabs on China-made Zonda Planes | You may have seen a post on TikTok and other social media platforms featuring a Chinese woman who claims to offer a solution for long road trips between Accra and Kumasi. The solution involves a Zonda-made Chinese aircraft, which anyone interested can purchase.
The post has sparked numerous discussions among the public regarding the standardization, safety, and security of the aircraft available, as well as the notion presented in the video that anyone can learn to fly in a short amount of time.
AviationGhana can confirm that the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the aviation sector regulator responsible for inspecting, approving, licensing aircraft, and certifying pilots for private or commercial use and professional and recreational drones within Ghana’s airspace, has yet to approve the sale of these aircraft in Ghana.
Ing. Charles Kraikue, Director-General of the GCAA, told AviationGhana, ” We investigated it and realized they [aircraft]are not in Ghana yet, although she [woman seen in the video] mentioned Ghana. These are bigger drones, just like fixed-wing aircraft, and so can be easily identified and regulated.”
