Ghana Orders Falcon 6X Jet for Air Force To Boost State Airlift Capabilities | By Joojo Maapa |
Ghana’s government has moved to strengthen its air-lift and VIP transport capabilities by approving the purchase of a brand-new business jet for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the country’s Parliament was presented with the contract agreement signed with Dassault Aviation of France for the acquisition of one Dassault Falcon 6X valued at USD 60.68 million.
The agreement was referred to the joint Defence and Interior committees for detailed consideration.
The Falcon 6X is widely regarded as one of the most advanced long-range business jets in operation today. It offers a range of approximately 5,500 nautical miles (ca. 10,186 km), more than sufficient to cover non-stop flights between Accra and Europe, the Middle East, North America, or other strategic destinations without refueling.
Its modern, fuel-efficient Pratt & Whitney engines and optimized aerodynamics deliver lower fuel consumption and reduced operating costs compared with older jets.

For Ghana, the acquisition comes after a period of constrained state air-transport capacity, during which the country’s presidential jet was out of service for major repairs.
The Falcon 6X’s reliability, range and comfort offer a practical and immediate solution to restore dependable air transport for high-level government officials, improving Ghana’s ability to fulfill diplomatic, development and security commitments without reliance on chartered flights or foreign assets.
Supporters of the purchase argue that the Falcon 6X will not only restore state airlift resilience, but also reduce overall costs over time thanks to its fuel efficiency, modern avionics, and lower maintenance burden.
The jet’s cabin, designed for long-distance comfort, allows officials to travel directly to key global capitals without stopovers, reducing travel fatigue and streamlining mission schedules.
