UGANDA AIRLINES LAUNCHES FOUR WEEKLY FLIGHTS TO ACCRA, EYES DAILY SERVICE | By David Kwakutse
Uganda Airlines has commenced four weekly flights between Entebbe and Accra, strengthening air connectivity between East and West Africa and opening new opportunities for trade, tourism and business travel between Ghana and Uganda.
The inaugural service was launched on October 27, 2026, with Uganda’s Minister of Works and Transport, Fred Byamukama, flagging off the flight at Entebbe before the airline was officially welcomed at Accra International Airport.
Speaking at the welcoming ceremony, the Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, described the airline’s arrival as a significant milestone in relations between the two countries.
She said the new service would expand travel options for passengers while enhancing connectivity, stimulating tourism and cultural exchanges, facilitating trade and strengthening economic cooperation between Ghana and Uganda.
Uganda Airlines Chief Executive, Ato Girma Wake, said the new route would make travel between West and East Africa more accessible. He also expressed optimism that the airline would eventually increase its Ghana operations to a daily service.

Ghana’s Transport Minister, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in aviation infrastructure to support industry growth and strengthen Ghana’s position as a preferred destination for international travel.
