A business venture linked to Ghanaian entrepreneur Daniel McKorley has lost its Fixed Base Operations (FBO) concession at Accra International Airport following a prolonged dispute over unpaid fees and contractual obligations.

In a statement issued in Accra, the Ghana Airports Company Limited confirmed the termination of its licence agreement with McDan Aviation Handling Services Limited, which had been granted rights in August 2022 to operate Fixed Base Operations services at Terminal 1.

Under the agreement, McDan Aviation was required to pay licence fees, rent, and royalties to the airport operator. However, according to GACL, the company began defaulting on its payment obligations shortly after the agreement was signed.

The airport operator said attempts were made to recover the outstanding debt, leading to restrictions on access to Terminal 1 in late 2024. Although the company subsequently cleared arrears covering the period from 2022 to 2024, further defaults occurred when payments for rent and royalties due in 2025 were not made.

GACL said the operating licence fee due since 2022 also remained unpaid.

Following repeated reminders and the expiration of the mandatory 90-day notice period stipulated in the agreement, the airport operator formally terminated the licence on 16 January 2026.

The airport authority subsequently secured and locked up Terminal 1 on 9 February 2026 and instructed the company to remove its belongings from the premises within seven days.

Despite the termination, McDan Aviation made a payment on 27 February 2026 equivalent to US$265,000, representing about half of the outstanding debt. GACL clarified that the payment would be treated strictly as settlement of arrears and not reinstatement of the terminated agreement.

The airport operator said it will continue to pursue recovery of the remaining outstanding debts owed by the company.
