Accra by Night Tour: Government to procure five more double decker buses – Prof Kobby Mensah | The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) has announced plans to acquire five additional double-decker buses to enhance the successful Accra by Night Initiative, a governmental project designed to boost domestic tourism in the capital city.
Speaking on GTV Breakfast following the initiative’s official launch, GTDC Chief Executive Officer Professor Kobby Mensah revealed that the expansion aims to strengthen the program’s capacity to showcase Accra’s cultural heritage and vibrant nightlife.
Currently, the initiative operates with one double-decker bus with tours, scheduled for the last Friday of each month, offering visitors comprehensive night time experiences of Accra’s landmarks and entertainment districts.
“We are not really into profitability because President Mahama has always emphasized the need to encourage domestic tourism,” Prof. Mensah said.
He also highlighted that the initiative stands out in Ghana’s tourism sector by highlighting the capital’s secure environment for night time activities.
“This initiative differentiates itself within the tourism sector by showcasing Ghana as a safe destination for evening exploration,” Prof. Mensah added.
He indicated that deliberations are ongoing to ensure the tour delivers a memorable experience for patrons, and urged Ghanaians to support and participate in the initiative. Accra by Night Tour: Government to procure five more double decker buses – Prof Kobby Mensah | Source: GBC
