Moreover, starting in July 2025, passengers travelling from Accra to Kumasi, Tamale, and Takoradi will benefit from expanded options with the introduction of Relax Airlines to the domestic and regional aviation market. The airline is undergoing inspections by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on its training and maintenance facilities in Lithuania and plans to transport the first of a planned fleet of three aircraft to Ghana upon completion.

Another operator, PANAF AIR, has officially received its Air Carrier License (ACL) from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). This milestone marks the airline’s commitment to contributing to the growth of both domestic and regional air travel within West Africa.

Ing. Charles Kraikue, Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), confirmed this to AviationGhana. As the airline gears up for the second regulatory requirement of an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) before takeoff, stakeholders are hopeful that it will create a ripple effect in the aviation supply chain, benefiting ancillary businesses such as hotels, tourism operators, and transportation services.

Currently, there are two main domestic airline operators, Africa World Airlines (AWA) and Passion Air, servicing the Kumasi, Tamale, Wa, Takoradi, and Sunyani airports. AWA also operates regional flights to Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria.
