Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced plans to increase flight frequencies in Ghana and introduce additional capacity on its key United Kingdom route as part of efforts to deepen customer engagement and strengthen connectivity across Africa.

Speaking to AviationGhana during a travel agency appreciation dinner and awards night in Accra, Kenya Airways Country Manager for Ghana, Peter Musola, said the airline remains committed to rewarding the loyalty of its customers, stakeholders and travel trade partners who have contributed significantly to its success in the Ghanaian market.

“One of our strategic pillars is customer obsession and customer intimacy. We don’t win in Ghana alone. Our customers are pivotal to the success of Kenya Airways here in Ghana,” Musola said.

He explained that the event was organized as a gesture of appreciation to customers and industry stakeholders as the airline pursues its mission of “propelling Africa’s prosperity by connecting its peoples, cultures and markets.”

More Flights for Ghana and the Region
Mr. Musola disclosed that Kenya Airways will increase its frequencies in Ghana in October and also introduce an additional flight to Freetown, Sierra Leone, enhancing connectivity within the West African region.

According to him, the airline is continuously evaluating market demand and positioning Nairobi as a key hub for passengers travelling across Africa and beyond.

The planned expansion comes as airlines across the continent seek to capitalize on growing passenger demand and increased business and leisure travel within Africa.

Additional Capacity to the United Kingdom
Kenya Airways is also set to deploy its Boeing 777-300 aircraft on the Nairobi-London route beginning July 17, significantly increasing seat capacity on one of its highest-demand international services.

Mr. Musola said the larger aircraft will provide more options for passengers travelling between Africa and the United Kingdom.

“We’ll be providing a lot of extra seats into the UK, which is really one of the high-demand routes,” he said.

The airline is encouraging Ghanaian travellers to utilize Nairobi as a convenient transit hub for onward journeys to Europe while also promoting Kenya’s tourism attractions.

Open to Deeper Ghana-Kenya Cooperation
Responding to questions about Ghana’s plans to establish a new national airline, Musola said Kenya and Ghana continue to enjoy strong bilateral relations and that opportunities for deeper cooperation remain important.

“Anything that we can do to deepen that cooperation is always on the agenda, right from the top of our presidency all the way to corporates that operate both in Kenya and in Ghana,” he said.

On the role of travel agencies, Mr. Musola described the relationship between airlines, corporates and travel agents as complementary, noting that travel agents continue to create significant value for organizations seeking professional travel management services.
