Uganda Airlines has expressed optimism about expanding its operations in Ghana, with its Chief Executive, Ato Girma Wake, indicating that the airline hopes to increase its Accra service to a daily operation.

The airline began four weekly flights between Entebbe and Accra on October 27, 2026, establishing a direct air connection between Uganda and Ghana and strengthening links between East and West Africa.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony at Accra International Airport, Mr. Wake said the new service would improve connectivity between the two African regions and make travel more accessible for passengers.

His comments reflect the airline’s ambition to build its presence in West Africa and provide travellers with more convenient connections between the regions.

The service is scheduled to operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The airline’s planned expansion to daily flights would increase the frequency of travel options available to passengers and potentially create greater flexibility for businesspeople, tourists and other travellers moving between the two markets.

The new route also offers opportunities for commercial exchanges by connecting Accra, an important West African business centre, with Entebbe and Uganda’s wider regional network.

Passengers using the service will be able to connect to 19 destinations across 14 countries, including Nairobi, London, Dubai, Mumbai and Zanzibar.

Uganda Airlines’ entry into Ghana adds another East African carrier to Accra’s international aviation network, bringing the number of East Africa-based airlines serving the airport to four.

The development comes amid efforts by African airlines to strengthen intra-continental connections and reduce dependence on indirect travel routes through Europe and the Middle East.

More direct connections could make business travel easier, encourage tourism and help companies explore opportunities in markets across the continent.

The route may also support stronger commercial relationships between Ghanaian and Ugandan businesses, particularly in trade, services and tourism.

Uganda Airlines is offering a promotional fare of $495 on the Accra-Entebbe route, providing an introductory pricing option for passengers travelling between the two destinations.

Euroworld Air Services Limited will serve as the airline’s General Sales Agent in Ghana.

The launch marks a new phase in air connectivity between the two countries, while the airline’s stated ambition to move towards daily operations signals confidence in the route’s future growth prospects.
