TAAG Angola initiate moves to return to Accra | By Dominick Andoh | TAAG Angola, Angola’s national carrier, has begun efforts to restart flights between Luanda and Accra before the year’s end.
Sources within the airline inform AviationGhana that it has contacted its GSA in Ghana, APG, and is set to engage with authorities and secure all necessary regulatory approvals in time for its return to the route.
TAAG Angola suspended flights to Accra, Ghana in June 2023, a few months after launching scheduled flights to the West African nation’s capital.
The airline had planned to resume operations in 2024, but issues with aircraft procurement prevented this from happening.
After acquiring its first of four Boeing 787-9 aircraft, Angola’s Minister of Transport, Ricardo d’Abreu, expressed the airline’s desire to enhance domestic services and expand international routes, with a return to Accra part of the strategy.
The purchase of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aligns with TAAG’s broader goal to position itself as a modern, competitive airline capable of delivering high-quality service, he added.
Additionally, Angola is investing in ground infrastructure, including upgrades at Paulo Teixeira Jorge Airport in Catumbela, to further strengthen its role in regional aviation.
