The Ghana Airports Company Limited says it will continue efforts to recover outstanding debts owed by the McDan Group in connection with leased airport land at the Accra International Airport.

In a statement issued in Accra, the airport operator disclosed that the dispute extends beyond the recently terminated Fixed Base Operations (FBO) agreement involving McDan Aviation Handling Services Limited.

According to GACL, the McDan Group is currently in court with the airport authority over 16 acres of land located within the Accra International Airport enclave, where the company is alleged to owe millions of dollars in unpaid rent and other financial obligations.

The airport operator stated that commercial properties have already been developed on the land and are being rented out, despite the outstanding financial liabilities owed to GACL.

The matter forms part of a broader dispute between the two entities, with GACL indicating that it will continue to pursue all available legal and contractual avenues to recover the unpaid amounts.

The airport authority stressed that the situation underscores the importance of compliance with contractual obligations by companies operating within airport lands and infrastructure zones.

GACL reiterated that all organisations doing business with the airport authority are required to honour their financial commitments under lease and licence agreements.

“Entities that fail to do so will be subject to the full debt recovery processes as stipulated in their contractual agreements,” the statement said.

The authority further noted that enforcing these agreements is necessary to protect public assets and ensure responsible management of infrastructure within Ghana’s main international aviation gateway.

The dispute between GACL and the McDan Group comes at a time when the airport operator is stepping up efforts to strengthen governance, ensure financial discipline, and safeguard the commercial use of land and facilities within the Accra International Airport enclave.

The airport authority maintained that it will continue to pursue recovery of all outstanding debts owed by the company in accordance with existing contractual arrangements and legal processes.
