Ghana has taken a significant step toward strengthening its position as a passenger-focused aviation hub in West Africa with the launch of a new digital complaints platform by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.

The initiative, unveiled during World Consumer Rights Day 2026 in Accra, was formally launched by the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, who underscored government’s commitment to building a safe, efficient, and passenger-centred aviation sector.

Speaking at the event, the Minister noted that aviation is not only about infrastructure and aircraft, but also about people, trust, and confidence. He stressed that when passengers feel protected and fairly treated, they are more likely to travel, driving tourism, trade, and investment.

“A confident passenger strengthens a national economy,” he said, highlighting the sector’s role as a critical enabler of economic growth.

The launch of the Passenger Complaint Portal forms part of broader efforts under the government’s transformation agenda led by President John Dramani Mahama, which prioritises efficiency, transparency, and innovation across key sectors, including aviation.

According to the Minister, the digital platform reflects Ghana’s ambition to leverage technology to improve accountability and service delivery, while aligning with global best practices in consumer protection.

The system allows passengers to lodge complaints from anywhere in the world, ensuring greater accessibility and responsiveness in addressing service-related concerns within the aviation value chain.

He commended the GCAA for its leadership in advancing consumer protection and called for stronger collaboration among airlines, airport operators, regulators, and consumer groups to enhance service standards.

The Minister emphasised that Ghana’s vision is to become the preferred aviation hub and destination in West Africa, anchored on high-quality service and passenger satisfaction.

How the system works:

A passenger who has issues with a service must first lodge a complaint with the airline, airport operator, or any other service provider. If the issue is unresolved, then the passenger can file a complaint on the GCAA PCP portal.
